NXP relies on FOLLOW-ME Track-iT: More precise tracking for Clairvoyants tour productions

November 27, 2025

The NXP Entertainment Group has chosen followspot solutions from FOLLOW-ME. A FOLLOW-ME 3D SIX system with the Track-iT extension is being used for the current show of the two world champions of mental magic, Thommy Ten & Amélie van Tass – The Clairvoyants. The decision to go with FOLLOW-ME was made after intensive market research at international trade fairs and an online presentation by the manufacturer. The system was supplied by LMP Lichttechnik, the exclusive distributor for Germany and Austria.

From classic followspot to automated tracking

Since 2015, NXP has produced shows and tours for the magician duo, who now tour with five trucks and over 100 tons of equipment. The increasing complexity of the productions repeatedly presented the team with the same challenge: During the show, the artists not only move across the entire stage area but often also into the audience area. Traditional, manually operated follow spots proved insufficient to maintain the precision that the show demands for dramatic effect.

“The cues weren’t always accurate to the second, rapid changes of direction were difficult to handle, and especially in the audience, clean tracking was almost impossible,” says Thomas Joksch of NXP. “The show requires that Thommy and Amélie are always in the light – this requirement could no longer be reliably met with classic followspots.”

Why FOLLOW-ME – and why Track-iT?

FOLLOW-ME 3D SIX, in combination with Track-iT, impressed NXP primarily with its flexibility. The system allows switching between automated tracking and manual control at any time – a feature NXP considers “crucial.” Furthermore, the solution covers the necessary area of approximately 2,500 square meters and allows for the simultaneous tracking of up to six people. The manufacturer-independent integration of the lighting fixtures also played a role, especially with regard to changing productions.
In addition, the system can be used reliably even offstage.

“It was important for us that the system covers the areas where our artists actually move – and in our shows, that often includes the entire venue,” says Joksch.

Precision in live performance: the show “Triple Magical”

The extent to which FOLLOW-ME transforms the production process is evident in the current production, “Triple Magic – The Las Vegas Show.” There, the system tracks not only Thommy Ten and Amélie van Tass, but also up to five additional objects that fly into the auditorium during the show – including Frisbees and dice, which are dramatically highlighted in certain scenes. Precisely placed beams of light make these movements visible to both the audience and the cameras.

Another unique feature is the 24-meter-wide projection surface, which moves up and down during the performance and is fully integrated into the tracking system. Track-iT reads the height of this surface in real time. As soon as a performer disappears behind the surface, FOLLOW-ME automatically fades out the tracking devices. This creates seamless transitions for the director, requiring no intervention.

Good experiences in everyday production

NXP is equally satisfied with the system’s handling and the support provided by LMP and the manufacturer. The intuitive user interface, the quick switching between different operating modes, and the precise implementation of 2D and 3D tracking simplify daily work. Even large venues like the Vienna Stadthalle, with its approximately 2,400 square meters of playing area, posed no problem for the positioning. Furthermore, the fact that the light level remains controlled by the operator preserves the familiar artistic control.
