Adding a back-up Follow-Me 3D system

Follow-Me 3D SIX + Another System as a backup

This scenario is to add a full backup system. We always advise running a full backup system, our development team work hard to ensure Follow-Me 3D is reliable and dependable. But as we all know stage technology environments often throw in unexpected surprises and unpredicted technical / infrastructural difficulties. If you have a backup lighting console in place, why wouldn’t you have a backup Follow-Me system in place too?

You can add a fully redundant system, so a second backup Camera set and Follow-Me server ready to activate in tandem with the primary system. You can set the output universes on the backup system to a lower priority than the primary system, this will make the backup server output automatically if the primary server stops outputting. The finished showfile from the primary system can be copied onto the networked backup system. Then the backup camera calibrated within that duplicated showfile.

The Mouse & fader consoles will already appear in the backup system as those are going into the same switch, so no replugging is needed.

You can then cable the monitors + Keyboard/Mouse through a KVM Switch for easy switching if a reason to do so arises.

There are of course other backup capabilities other than the above fully redundant scenario.

For example, you could only have a backup server. The camera feed would be split to go into the primary and backup servers, that backup also has a duplicated showfile installed & it’s output universes at a lower priority that the primary system.
